Beasts Of Bourbon - The Low Road, 2x Vinyl LP

Dirty riffs, dark humour, and Australian rock at its most dangerous. Beasts Of Bourbon unleashed their fourth album The Low Road on Red Eye Records in late 1991, with a rejuvenated rhythm section of Tony Pola on drums and Brian Hooper on bass. Recorded at Metropolis Studios in Melbourne in April 1991 with producer Tony Cohen, the album features the blistering heroin smuggling tale Chase the Dragon, a slow and insinuating cover of AC/DC’s Ride On, and the Hendrix flavoured Just Right.

The album took the band on tour with the inaugural Big Day Out alongside Nirvana and Violent Femmes, plus European dates where they had built a loyal following. Ian McFarlane’s Encyclopedia of Australian Rock & Pop praised its urgency, atmosphere, and hard nosed riffs.

Beasts Of Bourbon are an Australian rock supergroup formed in Sydney in 1983, known for a gritty, bluesy mix of punk, swamp rock, and gothic menace.
