Marvin Gaye – In Our Lifetime, Vinyl LP

In Our Lifetime finds Marvin Gaye pushing his sound into a leaner, more experimental 1981 groove. Blending soul, funk and disco, the album reflects both his post-Motown independence and the turbulent creative period that followed the success of Here, My Dear. Its layered rhythms, sharp social undertones and sensual late-night feel show Gaye working with modern dancefloor sounds without losing the intimacy of his voice. Often viewed as one of his more overlooked late-period albums, it captures an artist still searching, still questioning and still unmistakably himself.
